About SwimRVA Water Polo:

SwimRVA Water Polo was started in the late summer/early fall of 2012 with one child, Timmy Soukop.  This determined young man with a rocket arm stood strong for four months waiting for the program to go.  In the late fall of 2013, Miras Jelic, former Serbian water polo professional, took over the head coaching position and the rest is history.  He brought with him a group of kids and parents that started the first ever Swim RVA Water Polo, Richmond's first and only youth water polo program.  This winter we started with 24 kids and plan to double by the Fall of this year.

SwimRVA Water Polo competes with outher youth water polo teams from all along the east coast.  These other teams include Captial Water Polo, Navy AC Water Polo, Tiger Water Polo Club, Hampton Roads Water Polo, Triangle Youth Water Polo, and others.

Youth water polo has expanded over the last decade throughout the United States.  The east coast is catching up to the heavily populated sport that is growing strong in the west coast.  New teams are forming in Virginia, North Carolina, Washinton D.C., and surrounding states.  The ultimate goal is to have a team compete in the USA Water Polo Junior Olympic games in California.

Head Coach:  Jacob Henry

Jacob has been a swim coach in the SwimRVA Swim School which encompasses the Learn-To-Swim program, SwimRVA Swim School swim lessons, and the SwimRVA Autism Swims program designed to specifically teach children with autism the life skills of learning how to swim.  He plans on attending Virginia State Univeristy to achieve his Bachelors in Education.  Jacob has extensive background in swimming, coaching, and competing.  He joined his first swim team when he was 5 years old and continued until he started coaching at 18 years old.  In high school, Jacob was captain of the swim team and the lacrosse team.  He played water polo for two summers while helping organize the Lake Ridge Water Polo club.  Shadowing former Head Coach, Alex and Coach Dan, while helping develop the players with conditioning, Jacob has gotten to know the SwimRVA Rapids team very well.  He looks forward to his new position as haead coach.
